In the last blog, we talked about those who need spiritual healing and that Jesus is the cure for our spiritual disease called sin. Then comes the question of how one administers the cure; how do we allow Jesus to cure us? That is a great question, and I am so glad you asked. The cure for sin and death is so much different than any cure of a physical ailment.
You see, when it comes to physical disease, we have some responsibility in curing whatever it is that is making us sick. We must remember to take medication, watch our diet, exercise, whatever the doctor prescribes. We must make sure we do our part for our own curing.
But with the disease of sin, we can do nothing for the cure. We can’t be good enough, do enough good deeds, nor can we compare our spiritual sickness to someone else’s spiritual sickness. At the end of the day, spiritual sickness ends up the same way no matter how good we think we are.
So, what must we do? Jesus tells us in John 5:24, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” The prescription has been given; it is now up to us to apply the cure. First, we must be honest with ourselves and agree with God that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Because of this sin disease, we will never be able to have eternal life, never enter heaven. In fact, quite the opposite, we will spend eternity in hell. Second, we see that there must be faith, faith to hear and believe all that Jesus says. His word tells us that all who would call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. We must recognize that Jesus and Jesus alone can take away the disease of sin and eternal damnation.
You see, we do nothing for our eternal cure. The work has already been done. It was upon the cross that the sin of all mankind was laid upon the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Have you trusted Jesus to bring the spiritual healing that we all need? Have you called upon the great physician to bring you the cure for all that keeps us from peace, freedom, and eternal life? If not, I would ask you this one question: What is it that keeps you from receiving Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord? Do you want to be healed?
Jesus is always waiting for you to call out to Him; all you need to do is make that call.
