This life that we have been allowed to live is full of choices. Some choices don’t have much effect on our future or life in general. For example, what kind of coffee you order at the coffee shop isn’t going to change the course of your life.

Then some choices have a major impact on our lives today and into the future. When you date someone, this could have long-lasting effects on your present and future. When we look at job and career choices, where we choose to live, and even the number of children we choose to have has a great impact on our lives now and way into the future.

Some greater decisions and choices that are made in our lives go way beyond today, tomorrow, and even fifty years from now. The choice that I speak of is what we will do with Jesus. When you look at the life and ministry of the Lord He came for two distinct purposes. One was to reveal who God is and the second was to come and pay the price for all of man’s sin so that we all could have the opportunity for eternal life. Now I say the opportunity because we all get to have the choice of what we are going to do with Jesus and His amazing gift.

You see, even when Jesus walked on this earth people saw with their own eyes the miracles and heard Him teach and yet many chose to reject Him. Jesus was particularly frustrated with the hearts of those who considered themselves religious. Those who should have known better yet were so self-absorbed they chose to ignore the truth of who He is. In Matthew 23 we see a powerful discourse from Christ toward the Pharisees. It was harsh, but at the end of the chapter Jesus says these words in verse 37, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.”

It's as if we can feel the anguish in the Lord's words. His great desire was not just for a city, but for everyone that city represented, His people, those He called to be a great nation to come to Him. This included those who were against Him, the religious. May I say that His desire has not changed. He wants everyone to come to the realization that He is Savior and come to Him. The cool part is that today He has chosen us to be an extension of His call. We get to go and represent Jesus to a dark and dying world echoing His words to just come to Him.

We may have chosen to receive Jesus as Savior, but we also have the choice to further the “Good News” or just sit back and cruise through this life. So, we have another choice. What will we do?
