This world is good at throwing hard times at all of us. Occasionally those times come from our own silly decisions and sometimes bad times come just because we live in a broken and messed up world. When those times come, if you’re like me, you may have the temptation to have what we call in the spiritual world a pity party.

I get it. I can find myself in that place where I just want to shut down. But, then I read verses like Psalm 8:3-4, When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?” (Ps 8:3-4) It is then I am reminded that I am loved by the creator of the universe.

At night when I take my wife’s dog out, I look up at the stars and the moon and I am reminded that the God who created all of this loves me and He really does want the very best for me. If my God can speak all these things into existence, then my problems are nothing for my God to handle.

I am humbled to think that in eternity past God thought to create me. He allowed me to have this wonderful and amazing life. So, when life seems to be going out of control, remember God. Think about how amazing our God is. Then look, look at creation around you and remind yourself that your God just spoke that into being and that is Who has your back.
